Serim An
Hi Upper Dublin Science Olympiad!

I’m Serim An, a rising senior and one of the members of the UD Science Olympiad team for 2011 & 2012.
After many years of participating SO (sadly without any achievements), I realized how hard it is to get a single medal.

Studying for the events is extremely hard. I’m pretty sure that every one knows why. We basically have to study a broad subject on our own over a very, very long period of time. This is very difficult to do alone. If I become an officer, I will do my best to come up with the most effective and realistic ways to get you all prepared for the next year’s Science Olympiad. For example, this year, UD Science Olympiad started the preliminary tests for the first time. Although it wasn’t perfect, it did help us get started studying for the events earlier. I think we need even more organized plans and methods if we all want to do better next year. I’ll work hard with president and other coordinators to make sure 2013 to be the best year ever!

To be honest, I haven’t done Inquiry events before even though I was interested in some events like Fermi Questions and Write it Do it. However, I’m very determined and excited to study/know these new events and I’m also ready to help you guys prepared! Give me a chance to prove it!

Let’s all make 2013 our best year together!

Sam Hotchkiss
Hello! I’m Sam Hotchkiss, and I’m a junior running for the reelection as Inquiry Coordinator. So, why re-elect me for this position? I could argue that I am knowledgeable. I could elaborate on my youthful exposure to science through my parents, my grandparents, and other scientist relatives that bred an interest and passion for science into me at an early age. I could go into my passion for logical thinking and understanding of the scientific method and problem-solving as it applies to science. But that’s not what I believe this position is about. I believe what this club needs from all of its officers is a strong set of leaders that can use their combined and individual abilities to motivate both the club as a whole and its individual sections. I believe that I have this ability, and can use it to better our club and help us improve on this year’s successes in the 2013 competition. If you’re in support of this ideology, or in my performance as officer this year, please re-elect me, Sam Hotchkiss.

Short blurb why you should vote for me as Science Olympiad Officer
  • Participant in the club for two years
  • I enjoy problem solving
  • I can communicate easily with all other officer candidates
  • I’ll actually put in effort
  • I’ll do my best to prepare you so we can actually win more than one event
  • I’ll be extremely sad if you don’t
Seriously though, I’m tired of going to Cabrini and winning one or less events and I’ll honestly try my best to help our team. Also, I’m not in danger of contracting senioritis for at least another year so yeah, a vote for me is a vote towards winning and improving all of your college resumes because I know how important that is to most of you. THANKS :D
